DC Avanti: India's first Super car
The well known Indian automotive design house, DC Design has unveiled its supercar called the Avanti. According to reports, the car has been named after the Studbaker Avanti that appeared in Tintin comics. The idea behind the Avanti, which means 'forward' in Italian, is to make affordable supercars and the car is expected to be price
The car was unveiled by Amitabh Bachchan and will initially come powered by a 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine from Ford, and later a turbo V6 Honda engine. The 4-cylinder turbo petrol will make 265 hp, while the V6 engine will make 400 hp.
The Avanti is expected to do a sub-seven second zero to hundred timing. These engines are mated to a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission system. According to the reports, the engines are being tuned in the UK and will be shipped to India in crates where they will be installed the cars. It was also reported that DC Design is also setting up showrooms across the country in order to sell the Avanti Supercar. The first of these showrooms will be launched in Hyderabad. The showrooms will also stock other DC products. The 1560 kg Avanti looks more along the lines of a Lotus Evora, rather than a full-fledged Ferrari 458-like supercar. DC Design aims on manufacturing 200 cars a year, which means it would produce one car every two days....

Ford Fiesta AT Review
The Fiesta sedan, currently on sale here, too will get something new in 2012. The sedan is now offered with either a 1.5-litre diesel and petrol engine which is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. However the company is soon going to offer the Fiesta with its double clutch Powershift gearbox. The Powershift ‘box has recently been introduced and packs in some revolutionary technologies. For example when the brakes are applied the gearbox disconnects from the drive which is claimed by Ford to increase efficiency. However expect a much higher pricetag making it a more premium purchase than it is now.
New Swift Dzire review, test drive
We first broke the news about the sub-four-metre new Swift Dzire on our website on December 31, 2010. We also brought you the first pictures of the car in our May 2011 issue. As you can tell, we have been tracing the evolution of this car very closely and that’s because a saloon car for potential small car money is not easy to ignore.
The second-generation Dzire is quite different from the car it replaces. For starters, it’s only 3995mm long so it is a whole 165mm shorter than its predecessor. To keep length under the crucial four-metre mark, the new Swift sports an extremely short boot. As a result, the new Dzire looks more a notchback than a proper saloon.
